The Children’s Grand Adventure

What to Expect

For some who attend The Children’s Grand Adventure, a three-hour jet ride from Houston and touchdown at Jackson Hole Airport are newfound thrills. But ultimately, the conveniences and camaraderie of air-travel pale in comparison to the scenic views, wildlife and fresh mountain air that await upon the first steps outside the terminal.

After landing, attendees make the trek to Teton Science Schools, base camp for the Grand Adventure. Since 1967, Teton Science Schools have offered quality educational programming in Grand Teton National Park, utilizing the wild lands of Yellowstone National Park, Bridger-Teton National Forest and National Elk Refuge. Across more than four decades, the nonprofit school has achieved its mission of training and inspiring students of all ages – connecting people, nature, place and education. Sustainable buildings of the school’s Jackson Campus serves as food-and-lodging hub for much of The Children’s Grand Adventure.

Our group was hiking thousands of feet up in the Teton Range and one younger girl was falling behind. We were cold and tired, but we encouraged her – and we made sure she saw how beautiful it was once you got to the top.”
